Obituary

Dec. 26, 1952 - Jan. 23, 2015 


Jerry Hiroshi Matsumura, 62, of Esparto, passed away Jan. 23 in Woodland. Jerry was a Yolo resident for 62 years, graduated from Esparto High School K-12 and received his degree at Modesto JC in Ag Science. 

Jerry was a farmer his entire life. He was the 3rd generation of farming in Esparto/Yolo County. A member of National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, Western Pyrotecnic Association, Farm Bureau, Fire Commissioner for the Esparto Fire Department. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Tamiyo Matsumura, and son, Hiroshi Matsumura. 

Survivors includes his wife of 40 years, Leanna Matsumura of Esparto; daughters, Reiko Matsumura, Tammy (Sam) Machado, Tammy Sailing and Myrna Spiva; grandchildren, Jameson Ney, Addyson Machado, Barron Santiago, Tarron Santiago, Lela Spiva and Nathan Covington; sister, Kathy (Jeremy) Green, and brother, Paul (Tori) Matsumura. 

Memorial and 7th Day Service will be Monday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m,. at the Sacramento Buddhist Church, 2401 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento. Officiating ministers, Rinban Bob Oshita, Sacramento Buddhist Church.
