Crystal Marlene "Chris" Burton

Dec. 14, 1955 - Feb. 20, 2010

Crystal "Chris" Marlene Burton, of Esparto, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at home. She was born Dec. 14, 1955, in Woodland to Richard and Betty Bloom.

Chris, a lifelong resident of the Capay Valley, was a loving and supportive wife and mother and kind hearted friend. Chris loved her family and friends, but was most proud of the achievements of her children, Katie and Shane. She could always been seen on the sidelines of a football game or the warm up ring at a horse show, offering an encouraging word or her warm smile.

Chris' great passion was her horses Ð riding and showing horses throughout her life. She enjoyed the time she spent with her horses and black poodle Frankie, and the many friends she made around the show ring. Chris proudly displayed numerous awards won throughout the years, not only by herself, but by Katie as well.

Chris loved to travel, to Hawaii especially, spending many Thanksgivings there with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time at the coast or wine tasting in Sonoma and Napa countries.

Chris worked for 10 years as a contract specialist at UC Davis as well as alongside her husband, Ray, in their own business, Burton Construction. They also raised labrador retrievers, generously gifting many puppies to friends and family to enjoy as well.

Chris lived her life with style and grace and affected everyone around her, leaving a lasting legacy for family and friends.

Chris is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Ray Burton; parents, Richard and Betty Bloom; children, Shane Burton and Katie (Burton) Nichols; grandmother, Martha Bloom; and siblings, Mike Bloom and Erika Levings.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a .m., Monday, March 1, at the Burton residence, 17801 CR-85C, Esparto. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Yolo Hospice, and the American Cancer Society . Arrangements are with Wiscombe Funeral Home.
